The largest gathering of U8, U10 and U12 athletes in North America
The largest gathering of U8, U10 and U12 athletes in North America
Hello everyone,
We are delighted to welcome you to the 26th edition of the Défi Alpin Tanguay presented by Entourage sur-le-Lac, taking place March 26-27-28, 2027.
Since its creation in 2000 by the Club de ski Le Relais, this event has established itself as the largest competition in North America bringing together skiers under 12 years of age, and a memorable milestone in the journey of many young athletes.
Due to the enthusiasm of recent editions, we have kept the same race format: one slalom run for U12 on Friday, followed by the Saturday giant slalom races and the Sunday parallel slalom races for U8, U10 and U12.
It is important to highlight the major contribution of all our partners, who allow us to offer a truly memorable experience to the participants and their families.
We look forward to seeing you on the slopes!
The organizing committee of the DÉFI ALPIN TANGUAY, PRESENTED BY ENTOURAGE SUR-LE-LAC

| Why: | For the Saturday and Sunday races |
**We will provide ski lift tickets (RFID cards) to coaches according to the following athlete-to-coach ratio: 1 racer = 1 ticket, 2 to 5 racers = 2 tickets, 6 to 10 racers = 3 tickets, 11 to 15 racers = 4 tickets, 16 to 20 racers = 5 tickets. Additional tickets may be provided to clubs with more than 20 athletes. Please contact us if your club is in this situation.
These tickets will be valid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday based on the number of athletes participating on each of those days. The tickets will be distributed at the mezzanine of the main chalet on Friday between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM to one representative per club. Any tickets not picked up on Friday will be kept at the timing center of the Club de ski Le Relais.
Coaches must keep their ticket for the entire duration of the event in order to have access to the ski lifts. This ticket (RFID card) will be collected at the end of the event on Sunday. A fee of $20 will be charged for cards not returned or lost.
We would like to remind you that it is the coaches' responsibility to supervise and oversee the athletes of their club throughout the event, including on the lifts, in the training courses, and of course during the races.

***For coaches and athletes only***
A course will be available for training on Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Coaches or one representative per club must come between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM to the mezzanine of the main chalet to pick up the tickets and confirm registrations to access the course. Only athletes who are registered will be allowed to use the course. Due to the large number of participants and to ensure the quality of the course, three different runs will be set up, one run per category.
Once again this year, U12 racers will have the opportunity to run one slalom run that will count toward the final standings.
Medals will be awarded to the top three, and ribbons from 4th to 10th place. The medal ceremony for this race will take place 45 minutes after the end of the race at the end of the day.
On Saturday, young athletes will complete two giant slalom runs, each run counting as one race and toward the final standings.
Medals will be awarded to the top three in each category and ribbons from 4th to 10th place, for each run. The medal ceremony will take place 45 minutes after the end of the last run at the end of the day.
On Sunday, young athletes will run two races (two parallel descents: one on the red course and one on the blue course), each counting toward the final standings.
Each child's bib and RFID card will be collected at the finish of their last race on Sunday. A fee of $50 per bib will be charged for bibs not returned or lost, and a fee of $20 per card lost or not returned.
Medals will be awarded to the top three in each category and ribbons from 4th to 10th place, for each course (red and blue). These medals, along with the traditional tricorn hats that will be awarded to the winners of the final standings, will be presented during the closing ceremony. To celebrate the 26th edition of the Défi Alpin Tanguay, a festive closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2027, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, on the terrace of the main chalet at Centre de ski Le Relais. This format aims to transform the wait for results into a festive and memorable moment. We invite you to plan your travel accordingly so you don't miss this important moment.
For the Saturday races (giant slalom), bibs are drawn at random by computer. The starts of the first run will be in ascending order. The starts of the second run will be in descending order.
For the Sunday races (parallel slalom), the cumulative standings (times) of the two Saturday races will determine the start order. This will make the two Sunday runs (races) more interesting for the skiers and spectators. The racer who finished 1st will face the one who placed 2nd, and so on. The same two racers will compete in both races, one descent on the blue course and another on the red course.
The points accumulated during the four races (U8-U10) will be used to establish the final standings of the Défi Alpin Tanguay. For U12, the points accumulated during the 5 races will be used to establish the final standings of the Défi Alpin Tanguay. As tradition dictates, the top 3 athletes in each category will receive a tricorn hat at the closing ceremony.
Any unsportsmanlike behavior during this event may be sanctioned by the jury.
Each run counts as one race. Each race awards points to the racer according to the following 500-point scale:
| Position | Points | Position | Points | Position | Points | Position | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 500 | 16 | 75 | 31 | 29 | 46 | 14 |
